The third Sunday of every June is reserved for celebrating the paternal bonds of fatherhood. Why not celebrate this June 21st in STYLE and take your dad to one of these top destinations?
While we are all quick to admit our dad’s are “characters” we often forget this sentiment when it’s time to pick a gift for Father’s Day. The most valuable part of a dad is how special they are and the individualized experiences we have with them throughout our lives. Why not return the favor by giving them something this Father’s Day that celebrates who they really are and what they truly enjoy?
For the “Golf Pro” Dad
Whether your dad loves playing golf for the strategy, the view, or the time away from mom, Bandon Dunes Golf Resort is a perfect destination.
Ranked as the No.1 communal course in the US and listed amongst the top 100 courses in the world, Bandon Dunes is open to the public, offering 72 holes across 4 courses and over 6,633 yards of fairway.
The fairways of Bandon Dunes remain as architect Tom Doak found them, showcasing natural bunkers, 60-foot sand dunes, and sprawling coastal bluffs; something to offer everyone from the experienced to the novice golfer dad.
For the “Angler” Dad
If the thought of the sound of the ocean, the wind in your hair, the sun shining on your face, and a fishing pole in your hand reminds you of your childhood with dad, why not take him to one of the best fishing spots in America – Chesapeake Bay?
Ranked by the World Fishing Network as North America’s Most Amazing Place to Fish, Chesapeake Bay offers roughly 350 species of fish with the majority being year round residents. The favorite foe among locals and visitors alike is the Striped Bass which are excellent fighters and can grow as large as 60lbs.
What could say Father’s Day better than a massive trophy trout for dinner?
For the “Hiker” Dad
If your dad is more of a wilderness man who enjoys retreating from the hustle and bustle of day to day living, the Brighton Lakes Trail in Salt Lake City, Utah may be the perfect place to spend the day.
Only 30 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City, Brighton Lake Trails offers 1107ft of elevation and 3.83 miles of hiking round-trip. The trail itself takes roughly 2.5 hours to complete and offers moderate difficulty making it acceptable for non-hikers and avid hikers alike.
Perhaps the best part of the walk are the three lakes – Lake Mary, Lake Catherine, and Lake Martha, which lay along the trail. Lake Catherine is the final stop along the way and is one which you will want to leave time to explore as the surrounding vistas offer great overlooks and views.
For the “Brewer” Dad
If your Father is one of those that loves nothing more than to relax with a nice cold beer why not take a trip to the Microbrewing Capital of the US, Portland, Oregon?
Voted the number one brewing destination in the country, Portland has 28 breweries ranging from large operations with national distribution to small local producers.
Portland got its start in the 1980’s when it repealed a prohibition era law banning brew pubs opening the door to the likes of the Widmer Brothers who started the oldest and largest brewery in Portland – Widmer Brothers Brewing Company. The brand continues to be distributed throughout the US to this day and offers tours and tastings for visitors and locals.
Nothing like a toast to get the day off to a great start!
So whether you’re checking out your dad’s favorite sports team or checking out one of these national favorites, be sure to show your dad love and appreciation this Father’s Day!
