Models For Charity Celebrates 5 Years with Superheroes!

With a ‘Superhero’s Among Us’ themed fashion show, the Triangle’s own, Models for Charity, celebrated five years of professional men and woman coming together to successfully raise money and awareness for local charities. The show was held Thursday night at the AIA Center for Agriculture in Downtown Raleigh and played host to some of the areas most fashionable and most charitable. Upon arrival, guests enjoyed the musical stylings of a live DJ, a silent auction, photo booth, and accompanied by food and wine.

The air buzzed with excitement as the lights dimmed and the show kicked off with a heartwarming video that highlighted the spirit of Models for Charity and their philanthropic work. Following the show, guests were able to vote for their favorite of eleven superhero costumes, designed and created by local designers. Models wore everything from cat suits to star fish costumes, and army greens as they marched down the runway vying for a chance at first, second and third place prizes.

After these fun festivities concluded, the fashion show commenced, featuring looks from several local boutiques and models of all ages. The Art of Style, featured in #TheWinterBook was amongst the local boutiques to showcase the unique fashion offerings that the Triangle boasts.

To further highlight local talent,  six individuals from the community who, along with their inspirational stories and influential non-profits were honored, becoming the true “superheroes” of the night. One of the honorees was William, a nine year old, dubbed the Food Drive Kid, who raises money to help feed underprivileged youth when they aren’t in school and don’t receive their free meals.

It was definitely a night of giving in STYLE with local talent and incredible people working to make our area a whole lot better! The night had a little bit of everything, even an unexpected marriage proposal to MFC’s very own Michelle Congleton (she said yes!) and certainly left guests in a fashionably giving mood as they made their way to the after party.
