Designer’s Style: Rugged Denim

It truly is amazing to reflect on the history of denim and it’s climb from its roots as turn-of-the-century work-wear to showing on the hottest runway. Jeans come in a variety of colors, fits, and finishes (wear) that are increasingly appropriate for both casual and dress wear. In the past year a large emphasis on the actual fit of the jeans has emerged. The fit should compliment your specific silhouette. We know how overwhelming shopping for denim can be, so we’d like to recommend a couple brands that go beyond the call of means to get you the fit you deserve. Whether you’re looking for a slick STYLE or a pair of durable denims- these two featured brands are among our favorite ‘Carolina chic’ denims:

Raleigh These are good ol’ American jeans made right here in Raleigh, North Carolina. Owners Victor and Sarah Litvinenko have been crafting their beautifully fitted pants since 2008. Each pair is made from NC grown cotton and can be tailored to fit you like a glove. Raleigh, rich in the textile industry, has stamped a name in the fashionable jean market.

Nudies If you’re looking for jeans with character definitely check these out.  Stains, motorcycle grease marks, rips and more are used as graphic elements on the pants. These jeans are literally no worse for wear. In fact, their manufacturers encourage consumers not to wash them for at least 6 months! These jeans are made from organic Italian cotton and arrive accompanied by a repair kit and instructions for propper preservation.
