Carolina STYLE Magazine caught up with former American Idol finalist Diana DeGramo on the set of NERDS; A New Musical Comedy produced by North Carolina Theater. Find out how she keeps her style fresh, which beauty products she swears by and what she really thinks of Raleigh!
CSM: What is the key to wearing a costume with confidence?
DDG: At the end of the day you have to remember that you aren’t YOU! As an actor you play someone else so you are wearing THEIR clothes.
CSM: What ‘s one item from your wardrobe that you don’t leave town without?
DDG: I always bring my Lucky Brand leather jacket or my Kenneth Cole puffer coat because I get cold.
CSM: What beauty items do you travel with?
DDG: My Clarasonic Mia is the best! And a big tub of good ol’ Vaseline J. And my Smashbox BB Cream & Nars Orgasm blush. Throw in my mascara and I’m ready to go.
CSM: What’s your favorite place to shop?
DDG: Macy’s, TJ MAXX, and DSW- I love finding a deal.
CSM: What outfit best describes your personality?
DDG: I’m a Gemini, so either skinny jeans with a fun blousy top & boots, or a mid-waist skirt & button up top with boots. I LOVE boots, I’m a country girl at heart.
CSM: What /who is your biggest style influence?
DDG: Probably my own lifestyle. I like to be comfortable with a splash of fabulous!
CSM: What are your best travel tips for a fashionista on the go?
DDG: Always take a carry-on instead of checking a bag, if you can. Also, roll your clothes in your suitcase so you can fit more. I can put up to 20 different outfits in one small piece of luggage – often with at least 3 pairs of shoes.
CSM: Who is your dream designer to wear?
DDG: Betsey Johnson or Dolce & Gabbana because my nickname is ‘DG-ha.’
CSM: What are your plans now that NERDS has ended?
DDG: Wedding planning. I can’t wait to be married to my best friend, Ace.
CSM: How did you enjoy your time in Raleigh?
DDG: Raleigh is a lovely town with lots of things to offer. I’ve enjoyed the fun & fabulous restaurants, spas, hiking paths and so much more.
