(Charlotte, NC) Looking for inspiration and joy to bring into your life? This is the blog to read. Sunny Slide Up was created by a wonderful team of women, who desire to touch your heart and bring motivation, encouragement, inspirations and uplifting stories or activities that can change the way you view life and start enjoying it more.
Tell us a little about how you decide to start your blog and why?
Actually, we owe Mandi credit for sparking the idea for Sunny Slide Up. She approached us about starting a creative blog with friends and the rest is history! In our wildest dreams we never would have imagined where this project has taken us!
How has this experience working together and blogging changed your perspective on life and personally?
It has brought our friendships closer together which has been such a blessing. We love our brainstorming meetings where we spend at least half of the time catching up on girl talk before talking Sunny Slide Up marketing.
This blog of ours has allowed us explore and share so many fun topics with our readers. We have truly enjoyed every step of the way!
How did you get started with your blog? What is it that you love most about it?
We jumped right in and each of us took a day of the week to blog about what was inspiring our lives at the time. We try to keep a common theme, sharing useful and entertaining tips, stories, and savvy adventures relevant to the specific season or holiday. All of our posts are centered around happiness and positivity, which we share daily through photographs, recipes, creative DIY projects, personal stories and various other unique formats.
We love that this is “round table” of sorts; a place where we can come together and encourage others to slide up a chair and join us! We welcome comments on all of our blog posts.
What are some feed back that you have gotten from your readers? How did it make an impact?
We keep a close eye on what our readers are responding to….via Google Analytics, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, blog comments, emails, etc. Then we try to gear the topics for our posts around what is popular. We even take requests!
Pinterest has made our blog a HUGE success. We call it our “Chicken Pot Pie” success, where one recipe has allowed us to reach reader levels we would have never imagined! Heather wrote a blog post for a Chicken Pot Pie Cupcake recipe last October that has boosted our blog like crazy…and we must add, the cupcakes really were delicious. We make them all of the time!
What is your definition of Happiness?
Happiness is finding beauty in the mundane. We believe the happiest people don’t have the the best of everything, they just make the best of everything.
What is your favorite quote or book?
We LOVE quotes! It is really hard to pick just one, but if we did it would be, “Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as you ever can.” – John Wesley
What organizations do you all work with? Tell about the best experience.
We all work with a variety of organizations in the Charlotte area. But one that we are all involved in together is Step It Out Against MS, a group raising money to help fight multiple sclerosis through various walks and fundraising events for the National MS Society. We have a dear friend whose mom has MS, so this cause is near and dear to our hearts.
Volunteering our time is very important to us. It is a way that we can use our skills, so benefit the lives of others. Some individual organizations that we are involved with: CREW Charlotte, Queen City in Pink, The Foundation for Tomorrow, Society of Marketing Professionals (SMPS), AAF Charlotte, Vickie S. Honeycutt Foundation, The Sandbox, TEDxCharlotteED, STEP It Out Against MS.
What does style mean to you?
For us, style is a way of individual expression. It is an extension of who we are. How you present yourself – the way you dress, the way you decorate your house, etc – is a reflection of your personality.
What do you do for fun when your not blogging?
We all believe in living life to the fullest. We travel, we spend time with friends, we celebrate milestones and we love to try out new recipes. We enjoy sharing our adventures along the way to our Sunny Slide Up readers on the blog.
Any tips or words of encouragement for up and coming bloggers?
Pinterest! Pinterest! Pinterest! This can be such a huge way to drive traffic to your blog. Also, network with other bloggers and creative individuals to have them guest post on your blog. We have really enjoyed collaborating with others and having some fresh voices on the Sunny Slide Up blog as guest posts.
