Letitia S. Cotton My love affair for style and fashion started at a very young age. Growing up in a small town observing out-dated and very similar hairstyles sparked my determination to do hair. It has been a pleasure of mine to build up a person’s confidence and add to their beauty by putting my hairstyling skills to work. I’ve worked with people who have lost their confidence because of hair loss, sickness, stress, etc. All of these misfortunes result in them seeking someone to help them through a very difficult situation. I like to believe I am that person that they seek. Meeting others with this same interest is where it became inevitable that this was what I needed to do. After graduating from high school, I got my cosmetology licenses at a local community college. While attending the community college, I apprenticed with an independent stylist. During this time, I shadowed the hairstylist her in the shop and was taught many techniques for hair care. I received education in Affirm, Kera Care and Mizani products. Upon graduating, I started apprenticing with Rusk educators on a daily basis. By choosing to work for the #1 salon in Raleigh, NC (Salon Blu), my education continued to grow. I assisted a Rusk educator, Jennifer Fincher, owner of Salon Blu, for ten months. I went through all the Rusk/Redken trainings and with the same mandatory bi-weekly classes for a year. Going through this intense training proved to me that this was my calling. I built my clientele in 3 years. During this time I became a Redken color specialist. I also received private classes through Salon Blu with educators such as Lea Freeman, Sam Villa, Giovanni, David Stanko, etc. I also received education in products such as L’oreal, Alterna, Redken, Rusk and Pureology. I am additionally certified in Brazilian blowouts. My education is constantly being updated throughout the year as the industry of hair updates and new styles become trendy. I am blessed to obtain the natural art of caring for hair. Picturing any other career can never be an option. I LOVE, LIVE, and breath HAIR!
I am obsessed with frills, vintage pieces, and any sort of accessory, fabric, or adornment reminiscent of fairy tales. I realize this makes my style picks a bit 'girly' at times- I feel I make up for this with immense appreciation for Kurt Cobain's influence on Tori Spelling's wardrobe, as well as awesome taste in music.
