Main Street will be transformed into the biggest block party of the summer when Slide the City arrives on July 9. Last summer more than 1,800 sliders slipped and splashed down the giant water slide on S. Main in Downton Salisbury. Event organizers expect 2016 to be bigger and better than ever and are offering the community to “Slide the Other Side”, enjoying the ride on N. Main Street in the Downtown.
“This unique event was a huge success last year, but for 2016 we are going to be adding some fun entertainment to give it more of a community feel,” said John Malfatto, Slide the City co-owner. “You can experience your hometown like never before!”
This massive event is intended to be an all -day event, better than the average block party. Families, friends and neighbors are invited to take a break from the heat, speeding through three city blocks on inner tubes. Along with the one-of-a-kind slide, the block party will include food, music, local vendors and street entertainers.
Slide the City is a private event presented in partnership with The City of Salisbury and Downtown Salisbury, Inc. As with last year’s event, Downtown Salisbury will coordinate the event, recruiting volunteers, offering overnight packages for out of town guests and securing local vendors.
Sliding starts at 9 a.m. Online registration is now open at http://www.slidethecity.com/
All those over 5 years of age and 46 inches tall are welcome to slide! Visit the Slide the City Facebook page to see what fans have to say https://www.facebook.com/
