“Charlotte Contemporary” Debuts October 16-18; Features Art, Design and Fashion
Wearable art, jewelry and fashion accessories, including custom made Oxfords and bespoke cowboy boots are all part of the Charlotte Contemporary event, a new addition to the vibrant Charlotte arts scene. The art, design and fashion event features more than one-hundred of the nation’s contemporary artists offering their latest work in ceramics, glass, wood, metal, mixed-media and more. The event takes place at The Park Expo & Conference Center (800 Briar Creek Rd, Charlotte, NC 28205) October 16, 17 and 18.
Many of the artists at the show have work in major museum collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Mint Museum and others. The artist work is one-of-a-kind or limited edition, and it’s all hand-crafted right here in the USA. Contemporary art furniture also will be available, with artists using wood, metal, glass and other materials to create heirloom works of art.
A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will help support the Mint Museum’s new “NexGen Mint” initiative. NexGen Mint empowers teens ages 14 to 18 to create and cultivate artistic experiences in response to The Mint Museum’s engaging collection and exciting special exhibitions. Charlotte Contemporary and Raffaldini Vineyards of Ronda, NC, are also supporting the ArtStart MFA Scholarship Program, which will help aspiring young artists cover the expense of attending a major art school.
