Giving in STYLE : Hornets’ P. J. Hairston Laces Up For The Fourth Annual 5K “Walk 4 Mommy”

Hornets Guard/Forward P. J. Hairston joins John Adams (Sport E. Odie), Lester Adams, and April Adams for the 4th annual Walk 4 Mommy 5K this Saturday August 8 at 8:00 am in the Metropolitan area of Charlotte. This year’s goal of Walk 4 Mommy is to raise $20,000 to help single parent households with overdue bills, groceries, and childcare. Participants are encouraged to donate diapers, toys, and children’s toiletries. The event will include a commencement ceremony, check-in and warm up from exclusive trainers as well as appearances from celebrity guests and top Charlotte yoga instructors to the fit playlist of DJ Cuttz.

Walk 4 Mommy is a non-profit organization with proceeds going to single mothers in the community founded by Charlotte media personality – Sportie Odie and hosted by P. J. Hairston.  The Adams’ created Walk 4 Mommy in dedication to their mother Dorothy Elizabeth Adams who inspired the Walk 4 Mommy 5K through her love, sacrifice, and dedication. Affectionately known as Dotti, her children remember her as a powerful, and loving single mother, instilling values and morals  her three children. Dotti passed away due to complications from cancer in Charlotte NC on February 28, 2012.

Want to Walk 4 Mommy? Early registration is $25 per person and $5 for children under 12. Contributions can occur by individually participating in the race, joining a team, forming your own team, or by becoming a sponsor. Over the year’s the 5K has donated over $10,000 dollars to well deserving single mother’s around Charlotte.
