Wilmington, N.C. fashion designer, Casey Crespo of Crespo, was chosen to be one of 20 designer semi-finalists to have their collections walk the runway of Charleston Fashion Week happening at the end of March in Marion Square, downtown Charleston, South Carolina.
Crespo was also nominated as the “Designer of the Year 2014” at Wilmington’s first annual Fashion Week, held last April.
Charleston Fashion Week has fast become one of the premier fashion weeks in North America since its founding in 2007. Each year the likes of Fern Mallis, creator of New York Fashion Week and lead judge of Charleston Fashion Week, attend and participate in this premier fashion event. This five-night celebration will feature more than 35 runway shows; highlighting both emerging and established feature designers each night. The Emerging Designer Competition showcases emerging designer and model talent across the East Coast. It is accredited with launching the careers of numerous up-and-coming fashion designers and models.
Casey will be featured on the runway Friday, March 20th. Her designs will be exhibiting what’s new for Fall / Winter 2015. She has chosen local jewelry designer, Kristin Wood of Kopious Jewelry, to accessorize her 12 runway looks with both custom pieces made for Crespo and jewelry from the designer’s Spring / Summer 2015 collection. Both women are excited to represent the ever evolving fashion industry found within the local community on this prestigious stage.
“I am extremely honored to have been chosen to show my collection at CFW” says Crespo, “It has been a longtime dream and my proudest achievement to date. I have allowed this collection to take me artistically to the next level as a designer, whereas my past collections have been for the most part utilitarian and every day wear.”
