How many of us actually know what we are doing when we put on our makeup? We probably know a lot less than we would like to admit. There are countless videos and tutorials claiming expert knowledge on creating all of those oh-so-fabulous makeup looks we see on our favorite celebrities. But what we don’t realize sometimes is that these looks, the deep contours and bright neon lips, are created for the camera. They don’t always translate well into real life, and more times than not, we end up with a big sloppy mess.
So what’s a girl to do? Fortunately, for those of us who desire to learn, there’s the world renowned Bobbi Brown, a makeup artist who believes that, armed with the proper tools and tricks, women have all they need to enhance their natural “pretty” and build confidence.
STYLE stopped by to get a quick lesson on one of the most coveted, but not so easy to accomplish looks; The Smokey Eye. Follow these three easy steps to master the look:
Step 1: Start with your favorite Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick (I like Smokey Topaz) on the lower lid and blend.
Step 2: Line the eyes with a black or dark brown liner, making sure that the lines meet at the outer corner. Alternatively, try the Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Espresso Bean as a fun substitute for the liner.
Step 3: Apply Bobbi Browns Smokey Eye Mascara from the base of the lashes to the tips of the lashes, rolling the wand as you go.
And there you have it! Why not try this classic and timeless look to ring in 2015?
