H&M Comes to Charlotte’s South Park Mall

By  |

You could see and feel the energy as the first of the dedicated fans started to trickle in at 6 a.m. for South Park Mall’s Grand Opening of H&M. Shoppers held tightly to their coffees and patiently waited hours in anticipation of the ribbon-cutting ceremony that would grant entrance to the new 21,000 square foot South Park Mall location.

One of three Charlotte-area H&M locations, the South Park Mall store will offer collections for ladies, men, young ladies, young men with separate “store within a store” sections for accessories, lingerie and its plus-sized line. This location will also carry the Swedish retailer’s fantastic children’s collection, which features quality clothing for kids of all ages, from newborn to eight years.

As the noon Grand Opening grew near, all you could hear was the high energy of the DJ mixed with the chanting and cheering of the new H&M team members and those fans that had waited in line to be among the first to experience the new addition to South Park Mall.

H&M did not fall short of their fashion forward reputation; the shelves and racks were packed with quality, trendsetting, affordable styles. Some of this season’s hottest colors, shapes and patterns could be seen neatly stacked, awaiting that moment when they would be placed into a shopping tote and taken to the register.

As always, edgy black garments with strong graphics and unique shapes were in the forefront, showcasing the street STYLE that H&M is notorious for. On the heels of US and International Fashion Weeks, colors such as rich burgundy, teal and mustard made the cut for the season’s favored hues. Metallic paint brushing onto classic garments is another favorite trend that was visible in the store’s collections. H&M also focused on quality denim in a variety of shapes, styles and colors. Distressed boyfriend jeans still stole the show in women’s, men’s and children’s denim lines. H&M’s menswear feature a classic European style with an edgy twist focusing on darker colors, comfortable shapes and fabrics and vintage-inspired graphic tees. The children’s line shares the same H&M edgy feel of its older brother and sister line, yet differs with playful graphics and sparkle.

Although the morning was filled with high energy from the prospective shoppers and the stylish team members, high BPM’s from the DJ, prize-filled goodie bags for the early fans, giveaways galore and countless trays of high end snacks; H&M hasn’t forgotten its mission to give back, and protect the environment. In honor of H&M’s global garment recycling program, fans who came to the grand opening with a bag of clothing to donate received additional incentives towards their final purchases. H&M is offering shoppers the chance to assist in saving natural resources and contribute to reducing environmental impact by donating old and unwanted clothing of any brand while in the store. For each bag of clothing that customers donate to the program, they will receive a 15% off voucher towards their next purchase. To further support H&M’s mission to provide quality sustainable fashion, they are committed to using only organic or better cotton in all of their collections by 2020.

Overall the H&M South Park Mall grand opening was a success for both the financial impact it will have on the area and for all of the fashionistas in and around Charlotte that have been craving a diverse local shopping establishment. With their great style, great prices, and sound commitment to the world and environment, we are thrilled to have this newest addition to the area.
