Fashion News: The Top Three Trends for Men in Spring/Summer 2014

When it comes to men and fashion, there are two categories they usually seem to fall in: those who love it and those who couldn’t care less. For those who like the simplicity (what man doesn’t love anything simple), here are three basic trends to sport this season.

The Dynamic Duo: Black and White

Just like any power couple, this pair is right on trend for SS 2014. Two bold but minimally cool hues put together creates a killer, fresh, and crisp combination. Mix it up while you’re at it. Unite prints and patterns such as a gingham shirt and a dotted tie under a solid black suit.

Going casual? White shorts or pants with a black tee has never looked so stylish. With just two basic colors, this trend is an easy one to always get right.

The Jacket: A Double Breasted Blazer

It’s back. The double breasted jacket is a definite DO this spring and summer. Two rules for this trend: keep it clean and simple. You don’t need to overdo it with a statement piece.

You want the jacket to be tailored and nicely cut. Like the other trends, this one can be played up or down. For a more casual daytime look, try pairing the jacket with chinos, an ankle length or rolled pant to stay cool.

The Print: Bold Florals

The shirt, the blazer and the pant. While florals may seem feminine, you might be thinking any man who wears florals has to be fashion obsessed, entirely too confident or just plain foolish. Before you pass judgment take a page from some of the major names in men’s fashion. Brands such as Gucci, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Tom Ford and Saint Laurent are all showcasing the power of flowers this season.

Be careful with this trend; mix a floral piece with a solid, more casual item to keep it simple. Wearing floral pants? Pair with a casual neutral color tee or vice versa if you’re going for a floral top. Big, exotic flowers, geometric Hawaiian patterns and even earthy-toned florals are in, so there’s a way for all men of style to rock the trend.
