Stylish Reads: Grace Kelly STYLE

In April 2010, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London opened the renowned exhibition, “Grace Kelly: Style Icon” to pay homage to one of the most stylish women of our time, the one and only Grace Kelly. The exhibition ran through September of that year and to accompany it, V&A also published a book, Grace Kelly Style: Fashion for Hollywood’s Princess, that embodied Kelly’s STYLE and movie star persona.

Even in the Twenty-first Century, Grace Kelly (1929-1982) still remains a STYLE icon due to her exquisite elegance and flawless good taste. This book explores that good taste, and how her style polished her public image. Within the 112 pages, illustrations in both color and black and white make it so clear that she influenced Twentieth Century fashion, and remains a unique style icon. The book also includes captivating text, fascinating dress details, and film stills of Kelly’s most famous roles.

“I don’t want to dress up a picture with just my face.” -Grace Kelly

Broken down into three sections; covering Kelly as a Hollywood movie star, royal bride, and adored Princess of Monaco. The book illustrates her unrivaled wardrobe, from fabulous film costumes, meticulously tailored suits, American casual wear, to the glamorous ball gowns designed by the likes of Givenchy, Balenciaga and Dior, to name a few. Kelly stood apart from other film actresses of the time and had women in both the United States and Europe want to emulate her classic look. This book is an impressive overview of a woman whose personal STYLE still sets standards today, even 30 years after her death.
