Music: Oak City 7
Well folks, Memorial Day, the official kick-off to summer, has come and gone! While summer is historically the perfect time to grill out, lay by the pool, or lazily meander through Umstead Park, it is also prime time to catch some great concerts. This summer, be sure to reserve your Thursday nights for the Oak City 7 concert series!
Oak City 7 is a bi-monthly concert series on Fayetteville Street that starts this Thursday, May 30th, and ends the Thursday before Labor Day. It is 100% sponsored, 100% free admission, and features a plethora of local and regional bands as well as tasty local brews. Each concert is from 5:00-10:30PM and features 4-5 bands per night.
Worried you can’t dip out of work early to make it by 5? Don’t fret (or speed): the Main Stage music does not begin until 6:30. From 5:00-6:30 is the “Aquafina Happy Hour,” where concert goers can grab $1 pizza slices, and listen to some of Raleigh’s finest musicians.
The event is open to music lovers of all ages, so it is a great family or post-work outing. Leashed pets are allowed as well, which means the whole family can come out and enjoy the beautiful NC summer evenings. Great music, free admission, local craft beers, and $1 pizza slices? Get excited, Raleigh.
