It’s Memorial Day weekend, so you know what means, it’s time to bring out the grill!
Looking for a new cookout recipe? Try the Juicy Lucy burger! For those of you who aren’t familiar with this burger phenomenon, this is basically an inside out cheeseburger. Favored by Minnesota natives, and as seen on Travel Channel‘s Man v. Food Nation, the Juicy Lucy is a great twist on the traditional all American meal.
Ingredients for 4 servings:
1 1/2 pounds of ground beef
1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
3/4 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon pepper
4 slices of American cheese
4 hamburger buns
Let’s get started:
1. Cut each slice of cheese into 4 pieces, stack into a pile (resulting in 4 stacks) and freeze for about an hour. This prevents the cheese from being absorb into the meat while cooking.
2. Season ground beef with salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce, then divide meat into 8 thin patties
3. Take the your first pattie and slightly impress the middle, then place cheese into indent. Cover with another thin pattie, pinch all edges together tightly to seal the burger. Continue process with remaining patties.
4. Preheat grill; cook burgers 5-6 minutes on each side (or until brown).
Serve your Juicy Lucy and a bun and enjoy!
*Tip- Be sure to tightly seal your burgers to avoid cheesy leakage, save that for the first bite!
