Bam! Chef Emeril Wows Belk SouthPark

By  |

Pots and pans were clanging and savory aromas filled the air inside Belk SouthPark on Wednesday, May 8th as celebrity Chef Emeril Lagasse showcased his cooking expertise.

The chef known for his signature catchphrase Bam! excited the massive crowd of spectators on the lower level of the department store with a cooking demonstration and presented some of his premier Emerilware cooking products, which are featured at the SouthPark location.

Lagasse created a delectable 2-course menu which included Oyster Rockefeller soup, pork chops, green onion and rice pilaf, and southern-style cooked greens. Constantly the entertainer, Lagasse joked with the guests and took impromptu questions while he prepared his delicious dishes. Audience questions ranged from “What is the best oil to use for frying?” to “What do you do when you don’t know how to cook?”

Customers who made a purchase of $75 or more of the Emerilware products received a gift copy of Lagasse’s latest cookbook, Kicked Up Sandwiches, and met Chef Emeril to have their book autographed as well as questions answered.

“I learned that frying is not that bad,” said Della Cauley, one of the event’s attendees. “Chef Emeril said you just need the right equipment and do so in moderation”, she continued.

Lagasse is the chef/proprietor of 13 award-winning restaurants including E2 in Charlotte which treated guests to tasty complimentary appetizers and beverages.
