The Queen B is at the height of her being, and she is writing her own script.
The superstar-mom, wife, style icon, chart-topper, and business mogul, opened up about her career and personal life, in the highly-anticipated Life Is But a Dream which premiered on Saturday, February 16th.
Co-directed by Beyoncé, the revealing HBO documentary plays more like a video diary than a traditional documentary. The montage includes, monologues of Beyoncé in her bed, without makeup, as well as glimpses of her and hubby Jay-Z on private helicopters, jets, and in hotel suites. While the documentary chronicles the highlights of her superstardom, it also reveals some of her moments of heartbreak. Beyoncé confesses the fears that she experienced during her pregnancy with daughter Blue Ivy, and shares the struggles that resulted from her decision to fire her father/business manager, Mathew Knowles in 2011.
Life Is But a Dream also documents Beyoncé’s moments of self-discovery, and let’s us in on the superstar’s world-perspective. The 31 year old speaks out about gender inequality and provides her insight into the power-struggle, stating “Power’s not given to you. You have to take it.”
