Accessories: London Fashion Week, Street Style

By  |

This past week London was overtaken by their well-respected fashion week.

‘Fashion weeks’ which take place in the Fall typically look forward and preview the Spring/Summer styles to come – London’s fashion celebration is no exception. The good news is that show-goers and fashion lovers from around the globe have been strutting their Fall 2013 stuff on the streets of London Town. Read ahead to learn about some of the classic and cutting-edge styles that will soon be making their way across the pond!

Below: Chain Reaction. The chain bags made their mark during the Fall/Winter 2012-2013 runway shows. Chanel, Bally, Marciano, and Christian Dior, are among the collections that featured various interpretations of the chained piece. While chains are often thought to add a rock-chic edge, gold chains are one way to soften the look. Thinner chains, or chains that are interwoven with leather or softer fabrics, also give a subtle edge without being too bold. The type of fabric, as well as clasps, also play an important role in the overall aesthetic of the chain handbag. Dolce & Gabbana combined delicate floral embroidered fabrics with the chain handle to create a modern, yet feminine piece.

Below: Structured Sophistication. The classic satchel has been condensed and updated with cleaner lines and square shape, making it perfect for Fall 2012. While they serve a practical purpose, with so many colors and textures currently available these satchels are a great way to accent any outfit, for day and night. Many of them have the cross-body option, leaving your hands free to multi-task. We presume this is why it is such a big hit with fashion week attendees who are focused on exchanging business cards, and furiously taking notes on upcoming trends.

Below: Bigger is Better. For some people, practicality comes in being able to tote around as many essentials as possible. If the compact purse options for this Fall leave you wondering how you’re going to fit your wallet, makeup bag, and iPad, don’t fret; the oversized bag is holding its ground. Whether it be the classic doctor bag, or an expanding pleated tote, these bags are not only trendy, but also have a slimming effect, making them a huge hit with fashion enthusiasts. The oversized tote has been around for more than a few seasons now, and if the Fall/Winter runway shows are anything to go by, bigger is better.
