Jean Morisson’s “Naughty” Video Premier at Noir Raleigh
The Video Premier Party for equally beautiful and talented Jean Morisson was held at the very stylish Noir lounge, in downtown Raleigh, on Saturday, August 11th. The place was jam packed with a super hyped atmosphere. You could feel the anticipation for Jean’s exclusive video debut of her single “Naughty featuring Nile Rodgers” produced by Rey Gutierrez, from her new forthcoming album “Beauty in the Breakdown – Act 1/ Scene 2”.
New York born, Jean Morisson grew up with a natural passion for music and a drive to perform for anyone who would watch. Morisson would go on to hone and develop her talents – searching for her signature sound. In time she came into her own with a style that combines edgy rock, raw R&B, and a mix of lyrics. The musical compilations could be likened to the tones of Sting and Edgar Allen Poe.
In 2005, Jean would gain notoriety (as vocalist) with her first band MorrisonPoe, formed in south Florida, in 2002. The band was selected to write 2 songs for Microsoft’s XBOX 360 launch of “Perfect Dark Zero”, landing them a career changing opportunity to collaborate with the legendary producer Nile Rogers on the promotional single “Glitter Girl”. (click on MorissonPoe pic for video) Rogers has released numerous ground-breaking soundtracks and has worked with an extremely broad list of names in the industry. Dianna Ross, Luther Vandross, David Bowie, Madonna, Duran Duran, Adam Lambert, Daft Punk to name a few.
In 2006, almost immediately after walking in to a sold out show at CBGB’s where Jean Morisson poured a pitcher of milk all over her body saying to the audience, “Is it hot in here or is it just me?” Roger’s signed MorissonPoe to his label “Sumthing Else Music Works.” Their debut album was titled “Evolution.”
The band toured and the music evolved. Soon enough they gained enough traction to take themselves from another underground band to the top 40 charts.
“Naughty is about owning who you are without excuses. Its about meeting a person that you have an instant connection with and showing them exactly how they make you feel and what you are capable of. No excuses, no boundaries, seizing the moment and making it yours.”
In 2012, Jean joined forces with Nile Rodgers (again) and Raleigh based Nerv Records to start her next journey. She wrote the songs that amalgamate her album, in 4 acts, entitled “Beauty In The Breakdown.” I was curious to know what inspired Her debut single “Naughty feat Nile Rodgers.” She said, “Naughty depicts a time and place where the seduction was everything and the night was mine.” Jean explained that Naughty is about owing who and what you are without excuses. The song expresses that instant connection you have with another person and encourages you to communicate how they make you feel with no limitations, and no excuses, seizing the moment.
With a booming, yet gracefully seductive voice, poetically expressive lyrics, and a sizzling virtuoso band, Jean Morisson promises to set radio and stages across the world on fire. “Beauty In The Breakdown” will feature musical guests including Vernon Reid (Living Color), Raymond Angry (The Roots, D’Angelo), Grammy-winning engineer Jason Goldstein and legendary Bob Clearmountain.
I asked jean to find out whats next for the album and how its being received by the public, she replied…
“As far as what’s next, my song just went to radio and it’s already getting an amazing response. We have stations all over the country adding the song, as well as a lot of stations in the UK. My team and I are currently planning a promotional tour of the US and UK, and I’ll be performing the main stage of THE Festival in Amsterdam early next year.”
Jean is also on to work with her next single, she added…
“We’re also currently casting for the next video! If anyone is interested they should contact firstname.lastname@example.org It’s all happening, and I’m excited to see what adventures the next stage of this journey brings me.”
With beats blaring and excitement lasting throughout the night, the video premier party was a success! We wish Jean all the luck and many blessing with her journey for her amazing new album. Check out the event photos taken by photographer Dimitri Williams.
