Fashion News: Lolla Style Spotting
Chicago’s Grant Park played host to the annual musical extravaganza ‘Lollapalooza.’ A record breaking 270,000 music lovers from across the nation and world came to enjoy the diverse lineup for the 20th anniversary of the festival. While the stage was the main attraction, there was certainly plenty to be seen off-stage. Although attendees had to brave a storm on Saturday afternoon, nothing could rain on the fashion parade. Show goers and fashion lovers alike were there to be seen.
Below: Classic button-down shirts. Whether they’re silk, cotton, patterned or plain, feel free to venture away from the classic white button down and try out some of the embellished and beautifully detailed shirts that are rapidly becoming available. Want a more rugged look? Scrounge your boyfriend’s closet for his flannel or plaid shirt and put it together with distressed denim, or black leggings and a leather jacket to create a mid-90s grunge look.
Below: High-waisted shorts. Wide hot-pants, embellished bloomers, and denim shorts made a huge comeback in Summer 2012- especially the high waisted shorts. If the Resort 2013 shows are any indication of what’s to come, then shorts (specifically short suits) are here to stay. High waisted shorts can be paired with blazers or tanks, and allow you to be stylish and comfortable in a broad spectrum of climates.
Below: Head wraps & scarves. Head scarves and turbans are reminders of the huge eastern influence on the fashion world. Though they are stylish summer solution to keeping hair off your face, this trend will carry us into Fall and Winter. Think knitted headbands, and sequined turbans for the evening!
Below: Black and white Aztec-inspired prints. Spring & Summer’s bright and neon hues are being replaced with tonal interpretations of the patterned trend. Combining the black matrix look (always a hit on the New York runways) with winter whites, is a classic and sophisticated way to wear this statement print.
Below: Booties & boots. Combat, pixie, heels or flats, bare legs with booties are a great way to transition into Fall. If you want to add some height, wedge booties are the way to go. They look great for day and night, and look particularly stunning with those high waisted shorts (previously mentioned above.) The military look was given a modern makeover on the Fall 2012 runways, so we recommend investing in a pair of combat boots so that you can left-right-left in style.
Lolla and other festivals alike are a great opportunity for style spotting and seeing how trends transcend from the catwalk to the streets. Stay stylish as we say sayonara to Summer 2012!
